Lighthouse Ministry Chinese Lutheran Church of Honolulu

A Brief History

The Lighthouse Ministry was founded in August 2001 to expand the ministries at the Chinese Lutheran Church of Honolulu (CLCH). This new English ministry was developed to reach out to a wider English-speaking population. The Lighthouse Ministry started with the youth ministry and small group studies. Our weekly youth fellowship addresses the needs of middle- and high-school teenagers from different ethnicities and backgrounds. In March 2002, the first weekly English worship was held. Our weekly contemporary worship features uplifting and practical messages, lively praise music and warm fellowship.

The Lighthouse Ministry focuses on sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ through continually building and renewing of relationships with God and His people. Besides the regular worship and fellowship activities, this ministry stresses the practice of servanthood to our neighbors through year-long outreach efforts such as sandwich projects, blanket drives, visitations to the convalescent homes and holding out-of-door community worship services.

CLCH is a vital ministry that was founded in November 1974. It has grown from a core group of several families to a congregation of more than 280 worshipers on a typical Sunday at two rented facilities with Mandarin and Cantonese services. God has been gracious and faithful in His ministries through this church, we invite you to be a part of this wonderful church family by checking out our weekly worship services, fellowship activities and outreach projects.
